I was exploring the work of artist Vija Clemins and got inspired by her close-up paintings. Learning about her and seeing all the trees outside, I got motivated by the bark on the trees to paint. So I started that day with an orange and teal background (which if you look real close you can see). Then, I went in with a mix of grays and browns. In the end, I noticed hits of greens in the inspiration picture so, I added some greens which, I feel gives the piece a better BARK feeling.
